Installation Steps

Visit the App Store

Go to the Tag History app listing in the Shopify App Store

Click Install

Click the Add app button on the listing page

Review Permissions

The app requests access to read and write orders, products, and customers. This is required to track tag changes and allow editing tags through the extension blocks.

Authorize Installation

Click Install app to confirm. You’ll be redirected to the Tag History dashboard inside your Shopify Admin.
Installation takes less than a minute. The app starts tracking tag changes as soon as it’s installed.

Onboarding

After installation, Tag History walks you through a short onboarding flow that:
  • Syncs your inital product, order and customer tag data for a baseline
  • Shows you how to add the Tag History block on your order, product, and customer pages
  • Get the most out of the audit trail
You can skip the onboarding at any time and return to the dashboard.

What Happens After Installation

Once installed, the app:
  • Registers webhooks to automatically detect tag changes on orders, products, and customers
  • Adds the Tag History block to your Admin UI extensions (visible on individual order, product, and customer pages)
  • Begins recording all tag additions and removals

Uninstalling the App

Uninstalling Tag History permanently deletes all stored tag history for your store. Export your data first if you need to keep it.

Go to Apps Settings

In your Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels

Find Tag History

Locate Tag History in your installed apps list

Uninstall

Click the … menu and select Uninstall
All data (tag history, comments, usage records) is deleted immediately upon uninstall.
